On my birthday, we made a walk on the beach in Breskens. It was very windy, but it was nice to be at the beach, walk around and enjoy the fresh air. Even when it’s not super sunny, the beach is one of my favourite places to be. I was wearing my new pink jacket, and I also finally got a chance to wear the rain boots that I got a while ago (they came in handy when I wanted to jump in puddles).

Fijne dag iedereen! :)

Oh my, I’m turning 23 today! I’ve had nice and sunny weather almost every birthday in my life, but today the weather is really sad and grey. But when it’s not sunny outside, it can be nice to just stay inside, cuddle up and make your own little summer. I made these pictures last week, when the weather wasn’t that great either. Lately, I’ve really been into tropical prints with palmtrees and pineapples and stuff like that – and all of that’s on my shorts! I also felt like wearing socks in my sandals. Everyone may say that it’s the wrongest thing ever, but honestly, if you’re wearing the right socks and sandals it can be really pretty too (or at least I think so) (and I do whatever I want anyway). Have a nice day, everyone! :)

I bought another pair of shoes! Yes, I know, all of this shopping has to stop some time soo, but boy am I happy with these sandals! They’ve been on my wishlist since February, but only when I discovered they were sold out everywhere, I realised how badly I wanted to have these, and lucky enough, I was able to find one last pair in my size. They’re super comfy, and I so glad to finally have a pair of shoes that’s not black, because (as I phrase it in my mind), it puts my entire clothing collection in a whole new perspective! By which I mean that I suddenly get tons of ideas for all the outfit I can make with these shoes. The past week, I’ve mostly been wearing lots of white and blue, but I’m already dreaming of all the entirely white outfits I want to make.

*duimt*

Time for a new outfit post! I’m still mad about the navy sweater and the sandals I bought in april, and I love combining those things with a flowy skirt. This outfit is perfect for sunny days that are not too hot, but also for grey days when it’s still warm outside – in other words: perfect for in-between-season days :)

Meanwhile, the end of the school year is fast approaching. That means a lot of school work, but luckily it’s all still quite manageable. I have to write a paper for my language & education class, which means I spend most of my time watching video recordings of four classes and analyzing the interaction in them. It’s a lot of work, but it’s very interesting as well. Besides that, I also have to get my master thesis done, and I still have a lot of work for that, but I think it’s all going to be fine.

I wish everyone who also has exams lots of luck! *thumbs up*

Long time no outfit post! :)

Long time no outfit post! After my video in January, I was kind of out of inspiration, and I spent most of the past couple of months in my beloved striped tops, my go-to black skinnies and my winered jumper from Urban Outfitters, or – when I was at home working on my thesis – my chilling clothes. But now that spring is here, I felt it was time for something new, and since my little shopping trip last week, these are basically the only clothes I’ve worn all week :) I love the fact that it looks so casual and effortless (because of the turned up legs, the loose jumper and the tote bag), but at the same time elegant (because of the bare ankles), but not too elegant (because of the fact that I’m wearing sandals and not ballerinas or heels). Which makes it perfect for me! :) Besides the fact that it’s super comfortable to wear,  I also love the combination of navy and black. Last week, I got these nice sunglasses from Papp UV, which is a German brand that sells sunglasses made of paper. I really like that concept! The glasses are super light, and when you fold them they’re completely flat, which means you can just put them between a book, for example. And I also think they look great. What do you think? :)

Gelukkig nieuwjaar, iedereen! :) Hoe hebben jullie oudjaar gevierd?

I didn’t think my skirt got as much attention as it deserved in my last post, so I decided to make another post about it, for New Year’s Eve :) To make the skirt a bit more striking, I wore it together with my rhinestone blouse, which is also perfect for the New Year theme.

I celebrated New Year’s Eve at home, like every year, and I actually like it that way. Just having a nice dinner together, make a toast to the new year, nice and quiet. My aunt brought a treat called “oliebollen” (a bit like donuts), which is apparently a tradition on New Year’s Eve in the Netherlands. I actually liked them more than the ones you can eat at carnivals in Belgium.

Happy New Year everyone! :) How did you celebrate New Year’s Eve?

jurkje / dress: COS (similar) — vest / cardigan: Brandy Melville — schoenen / shoes: Kurt Geiger

Two weeks ago, I bought some new shoes, and since then I haven’t worn any other shoes. They’re so great, and nothing is more fun than combining them with every possible outfit I can imagine. That’s what I like about a new pair of shoes: they place all of your clothes in a new perspective, to say it like that :) On these pictures, I was wearing a dress from COS that I bought a long time ago, but I never new how to combine. And I have no idea why, because actually it’s just a really nice blue dress. To be precise, I bought it in July 2011 (yes, that’s two and a half years ago), and since then, I’ve only worn it once. However, I never saw it as a bad buy, more like something I knew was a good buy, but I hadn’t figured out what I wanted to do with it yet. You know the feeling? :)

PS: The title of this post comes from a beautiful song by High Places. I haven’t been listening to a lot of music recently, but their music is something that can keep me amused. Once, I went to a High Places concert and I think it was the ‘smallest’ concert I’ve ever been to, because there were only twenty people. It was really nice :)

jas / coat: Weekday (my brother’s) — jeanshemd / denim shirt: second hand — broek / trousers: BDG — schoenen / shoes: Sacha — sjaal / scarf: Monki

Fijne herfstvakantie / verlengd weekend iedereen! :)

Today: a happy post full of pretty blue colours :) Somewhere in September, I suddenly felt like I needed a nice in-between-season coat, and since my coat collection only consists of two wintercoats and two blazers, I asked my brother if I could borrow one of his many coast for a week (and that week turned into five). It’s a pretty thin coat, so when it’s not that cold you can just wear a blouse or a shirt underneath, and when it’s a little bit colder, you can just combine it with a sweater. I loved having a blue coat for ones, since all my other ones are black, and it turned out that blue is just as versatile as black, but more interesting. I also took my black platform shoes from Sacha out of the closet, because it had been a pretty long time since I last wore them. I really like them, because they stick out a little, and they make me look a little taller, which isn’t wrong either. The only minus is that the soles are pretty narrow, which makes me trip every once in a while, and they’re not suited for standing a long time.

Well, these were my weekly reflections about clothing. Have a nice autumn break / long weekend / rest of the week everyone! :)
